Why does the top of your cigarette filter start to turn brown when smoking?

Since i started smoking about a year ago i’ve always wondered that. I have an idea of why but i never actually knew for sure.(random i know)

I think the smoke stains it

Tar and other substances in the tobacco smoke. You can blow smoke through a tissue or white hankerchief and it will do the same thing. Just think of your lungs !!! I quit the nasty habit 3-4 years ago and am glad!

Well, like any addictive substance, it’s a progressive thing. I started out like you and 31 years later ended up at 3 packs a day. Cigarretts are great until they finally reveal themselves as the poison that they really are.

well i been smoking since i was 13 stoped till i was 16 then stoped at 17 then started again at 18 and still some the same amount. its not a routine for me like with many people.
