Who has tongue ring answers?

I have a few questions…so I was wondering could you help me???

When you get it pierced is it numbed? When you’re done getting it pierced can you talk w/out it being noticed? Does it swell [for sure] after it is pierced? Can you eat afterwards? How long does it usually take to heal? How long does it take for the swelling to go down? [if it does]

*Thanks for even reading…

No, it’s not numbed, mainly because it’s painless. Depending on how bad your swelling is will be the difference as to how you talk afterwards. From my experience, I could talk fine, my ‘s’ sounded a little funny but for the most part my speech was normal. It’s a good idea to suck on ice cubes and popcicles and cold things like that, it helps with the swelling. And aftercare is really important so you have to brush and rinse after eating anything. Just don’t use anything containing alcohol. For me it took 3 days for the swelling to go down and 4 for it to heal. It all depends on how you take care of it, and how your body reacts to the new piercing.

NO, IT IS NOT NUMBBED. SOME PEOPLE I HAVE KNOWN CAN TALK WITHOUT IT BEING NOTICED BUT MY SPEECH IMPAIRMENT I THINK WAS OBVIOUS. IN MY EXPERIENCE, MY TONGUE WAS SWOLLEN FOR THE FIRST TWO TO THREE DAYS AND REMAINED SLIGHTLY SORE FOR ONE WEEK AND A HALF TOTAL. I RECOMMEND CARRYING A CUP OF ICE WITH YOU BECAUSE IT HELPS TO PLACE THE ICE ON YOUR TONGUE FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS, IT NUMBS ANY PAINFULL SENSATION. ADVICE- MAKE SURE YOU DONT EAT ANYTHING STRINGY LIKE PASTA, I MADE THAT MISTAKE AND ENDED UP WITH PASTA TANGLED ON MY TONGUE RING THE FIRST DAY THAT I GOT IT PIERCED. YOUR TONGUE NEEDS TO ADAPT TO HAVING THIS RING IN THE WAY OF THINGS. I KEPT THINKING THAT I HAD AN M&M ON MY TONGUE THE FIRST DAY AS WELL. AFTER IT HEALS ALL SHOULD BE WELL. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP UP WITH GOOD ORAL HYGENE THOUGH TO PREVENT INFECTION AND TO PROMOTE QUICK HEALING. RINSE WITH MOUTHWASH FREQUENTLY (OFTEN DAILY NOT OBSESIVELY). CLEANING YOUR TONGUE RING OFTEN NEAR THE BALL IS IMPORTANT, FOOD PARTICLES TEND TO DRY AND STICK HERE, IT CAN GET NASTY.

I just had my tongue pierced yesterday for the first time, I’m horrified of needles, but I have to say it doesn’t hurt when the needle goes through, I thought it would but it’s real quick, but after is another story, your tongue swells and it is some what painful, you can’t eat much, mainly just ice, but its good to take anti- inflammatory meds like motrin. It is noticeable because you will talk funny and your mouth is really watery. I hope this had helped you.
