But seriously: The inside of the earth is liquid rock (magma). The groud that we walk on is basically colder, solid rock that is swimming on the liquid rock. But that rock is not one piece. It is several pieces. Like ice on the ocean. And the rock plates move in different directions and slide against each other on the borders. That is where earth quakes and volcanos come from.
