Yasmin is one of the better birth control pills out there (hence its a little more expensive), it has the least side effects of all. It is also the pill that is supposed to give you the least weight gain. However, all women react differently to different pills, so you’ll just have to listen to your body. You’ll need to be on Yasmin for at least 4 months before you can tell. Remember - its probable that you will put on a little weight with ANY pill you go on!

In the first couple of weeks its normal to feel nauseous - its just the body getting used to a new level of hormones.

If after a few months you begin to get mood swings or are a bit depressed, this can be a side effect - in this case you should try a new pill (Estelle/Dianne is a good pill for those who suffer from moodiness on other pills).

Women also can get excess hair growth from going on the ‘wrong’ pill - I grew a little more arm hair and tummy hair when I went on Estelle, but its stopped now I’m back on Yasmin. There are lots of possible side effects - another being lethargy - but you need to give Yasmin a few months to figure it out. You’ll be able to tell if its not working for you!
