Who else thinks the war between Atheists and Believers is stupid?

I believe, but in different things. I go to a Christian church, I meditate the Wiccan way, I honor the Greek Pagans, but I also believe in some Science points, so- Atheists, I realize there are some bible thumping religious people out there, but I get annoyed when some Atheists find every Christian forum in sight and tell us we’re ignorant. Is that not just as imposing as Believers telling you you’re wrong? So why can’t we all live in peace? Don’t blame all believers for attacking people, and don’t blame all Atheists for not respecting opinions. A lot of deaths were caused by Religion, but a lot of deaths were caused by Science. For example. Hitler persecuted the Jews, and one of the main reasons why was that he wanted to get rid of Religion. The Atom bombs dropped in Japan caused thousands to die. Religion did not create those bombs. But Religion did cause the Crusades, witch burnings, and 9/11. So I think neither path is perfectly right or moraled. The problem is this world loves stereotyping. I just think we all need to co-exist. Respect other people’s views. So what do you think?

I am aware of wars being waged between Jews and Muslims; Muslims and Christians; and recent wars between Roman Catholic Christians and Protestant Christians, as well as many other inter-faith and inter-sect wars involving killing and maiming in the name of religious ideals. . Who, and where specifically, are the atheists at war with, and how are the atheists conducting their warfare? ….. . ….. do they use suicide bombers? . ….. do they hijack planes and crash them into densely populated areas? . ….. do they leave cars packed with high explosives in opposing sectarian residential areas and detonate them with remote control radio links ? . Oh wait a minute - I guess you mean that they conduct their “warfare” by questioning the validity of dogmatic statements of “ faith “. . Such belligerent aggression should not be tolerated should it? Perhaps we are overdue for another “Spanish Inquisition”. . Please don’t reel off that rubbish about Hitler wanting to “… get rid of religion …” - he was raised as a Catholic, and repeatedly asserted - both in his speeches and in his major book Mein Kampf that he believed in Christianity. . Likewise with the Hiroshima bomb - dropped by the United States - who I believe conduct all their military campaigns “… in the name of God …” complete with devout blessings and prayers for success. . As to the creators of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs I think you will find that the key designers and developers were Jewish scientists. “Scientist” does not mean “Atheist” by any stretch of the imagination. .

You’re stereotyping. I’m a Christian, but should I pay for what dead and buried Christians did in the past? I’m not setting off bombs and burning old women. I’m in no control of what other churches do. Blame the suicide bombers who destroy buildings, don’t blame other religious people. Your arguement is invalid. You know very well when I say war I mean war of words, between Atheist and Believers, not religious groups. If you think religions are the only people that kill you are very much mistaken. Do Jews blame Germans for what their ancestors did? No, because it’s ignorant to scoff at someone who had no control over the past. I did not say Scientists are Atheist, but many of their points divert from the Ethreal being theories.

My best friend is Muslim. Are you going to say it’s also her fault that all the Muslim bombers are killing hundreds? My other best friend is Catholic. Is it now her fault the Catholics led a manhunt? Don’t blame innocent people because corrupted things are happening to their belief. Take a stand against the killings, sure, but don’t group everyone into the same catagory.

im agnostic and i beleive in religous equality. i was a athiest until i met a girl who is my bff thats wiccan/Pagan…. i started medatating and worshiping the earth in ways i never knew so im agnostic!!!! I want equality for everything!!!

What do you mean by “ I’m stereotyping “ - not that I have anything against stereotyping - that seems to be one of the things you object to, not me. I never said “all Christians”, nor “all Muslims”, nor “all Jews”. I just said Christians, Muslims and Jews - referring to some of them - i.e. the ones who actually do kill and maim in the name of their religions. You give me the impression (by admitting to going to a Christian Church) that it is OK for “Deists” to indocrinate non-believers (e.g. little children) by preaching the tenets of a specific faith to them - without criticizing such teaching as being “at war with” non-believing children. Yet seem to be saying that Atheists should not expound their philosophical reasons for attempting to refute the existence of an all powerful supernatural creator on the basis of logical arguements. Warfare, both military and verbal, (it seems) is OK for Deists, but you seem to want Atheists to keep their mouths shut. Now for our first hymn: “Onward Christian Soldiers Marching as to war ….. “

the problem with the “war” as you refer to it is that the believers continue to push their beliefs on the non- believers and look down on them for not believing , i am wiccan/pagan as well and i don’t preach it , i simply live by my beliefs and move on- in the face of a “believer” preaching at me i will tear down their belief system and tell them off. so if the believers quit preaching then technically there would be no arguments and thus no “war”. BELIEVE WHAT YOU CHOOSE BUT DON’T PUSH IT ON ANYONE.

What about non-believers pushing their beliefs on believers? It goes both ways. Your answer is rather hypocritical - you say people are free to believe what they want but then you talk about tearing down someones believe system.
