Why do you refuse to use a crate? This is what she has been raised to know and understand. It is not cruel to put an animal in a crate. If she is already trained to a crate, more than likely she feels like this is her home and she feels safe in.

The crate becomes like a bubble of protection for them. They don’t see it as a cage or like they are being trapped. As long as you follow a routine, a crate can be an amazing thing to have. It is like giving them their own space.

If you still want to house break her, take her out every time she eats. Take her out to use bathroom after every single time she wakes up. And most importantly, if she has an accident in the house, do not rub her face in it. This is a common misconception. If you punish her for something that happened hours ago, she will not understand what is happening. For a dog to understand what you are punishing them for, you must act in a matter of seconds. As soon as it has an accident, say no no! and take it outside. Sam
