the beatles were and are the most famous and well known bands ever they are awsome…I want to get this straight JOHN LENNON DID NOT SAY ANYTHING AGAINST JESUS he loved jesus. he said they were getting to be more famous than jesus BECAUSE THEY WERE! he was sad for that! people were worshiping them instead of jesus! he was sad for that!

Who in their right mind would ever “hate” them? Yeah people did get easily offended by things they did or by things they said…

Like what the dude above me said…John did say that they were more popular than Jesus…and there was a lot of anti-beatlemania going on, but he later apologized…

Or some of their music…like “Hey Jude” one man thought “hey jude” meant “hey jew” and he was offended…

but they are awesome…and will never stop being awesome…their memory lives on forever…

they wernt hated they were like one of the best bands that came out of liverpool of all times they were like one of the best selling bands of all time! they were amazing!

There were lots of people who hated the Beatles. Some people hated them for playing rock and roll. Some people hated them for wearing long hair, some people hated them for getting into Eastern mysticism, some people hated them for doing drugs,

The biggest backlash I remember against the Beatles was when John Lennon said that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Radio stations refused to pay their songs and people burned Beatles records.

This remidnds me of the backlash against the Dixie Chicks when they said they were ashamed of their President.

Well Everyone is hated by someone for some reason. . . . . Silly isn’t it.

In 2010 few people “hate the Beatles.” They were a huge hit when they arrived in the States in 1964 because they appealed to the masses of young people resulting from the baby boom with “fun” pop music.

In 1966, John Lennon was quoted saying that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Many people, especially those in the conservative south, took his statement the wrong way and boycotted Beatles albums.

John apologized, the Beatles disappeared for a while, and then came back with the debut of Strawberry Feilds, a song unlike anything they had ever done (or anyone, for that matter) because it was much more artistic and expressive.

Initially, many people (especially young people from their original fan base) thought it was “weird,” but eventually warmed up to the “new Beatles” and the rest is history.
