Tell your parents and get help - don’t allow fear to control your life…I wish you the best !!

I love being home alone it’s just those things that bother me…when everything is on and the tv and lights are on I’m fine. do you people think I should get seirous help??? I don’t know what to do

Answer #3

That’s not a stupid fear - that is actually a very smart fear to have. Some fears that we have are from basic survival instincts. Your fear of not wanting to be alone is normal and a lot of people feel that way. I’m 23 years old, I sleep with my tv on, I always have a light on in the house, wont walk into a dark room, and double check the locks every night. It’s more a safety thing with me and making myself feel secure, there is nothing wrong with that.

Answer #4

There’s nothing wrong with you - I’m 34 and I feel the same way you do. Everybody has fears, and you’ll eventually learn how best to deal with them.

If having the TV on makes you feel better, then do it.

Answer #5

I know exactly how you feel. im 19 and I still sleep with a light on lol. im home alone almost every day so I’m used to it but I do still get scared somtimes. and I reallly hate being downstairs by myself at night if everyone else is upstairs asleep. so don’t feel alone theres plenty of people out there that feel the same way.

We are conditioned by what we are led to believe. The media makes it seem like everything going on all around us is negative and out to cause us harm.

It ain’t so!

The media thrives by basing its news on negative issues, the fears upon which most people’s lives are based.

In reality, most of the negative things you hear about will never confront you. Not that you shouldn’t live your daily life being NORMALLY cautious but don’t fall into the trap of thinking that just because you forgot to lock the kitchen door, a burglar is definitely going to come in and rob you.

You have spent your life learning how to handle situations that you find yourself in. If that time should come, you will deal with it in the manner that the situation dictates. You are competent enough to do it.

If you want to keep turning on lights before going into darkened rooms, go ahead. But remember, it isn’t really because you are afraid of a burglar being there but rather because you are afraid of tripping over objects in your path.

Start enjoying everything about your life. Don’t let little imaginary black clouds, most of which will never come your way, haunt your very existence. Cross your bridges as and WHEN you come to them.

If you want to try building your confidence, try staying up all night in a dark room with the windows open. Listen to what you hear. They are the sounds of your house, the sounds of nature at night and maybe some of the sounds that normal people make as they go about their normal nightly business.

In the morning, you will realize that you just survived a NORMAL night. Nothing negative happened except maybe you got a little cold from the chill of the night.

In short, stop EXCESSIVELY worrying about things. Enjoy everything about your life. Be cautious when caution is required, but otherwise, enjoy a carefree life.

Simply a Rose to brighten your day,         And maybe lessen the cares in your way;         And also, too, to help you to know,         That in knowing you, many others grow!
