Is saran wrap on a new tattoo safe? I just got the rest of it done today and I don’t know what to listen too. People say its bad but some say its good, others say to put a medical gauze on it… I don’t know what to put on it so a little help would be awesome!

Answer #1

saran wrap isnt bad but its better to let it breathe

Answer #2

When I got mine done, they put saran wrap on it. You really don’t have to put anything on it, but saran wrap is okay.

Answer #3

When I got my tattoo he put plastic wrap on it. But I’ve heard that it suffocates your tattoo.. soo.. it’s best to take it off a.s.a.p. I don’t think it’s a bad thing tho… all tattoo artists have their own way of doing things

Answer #4

saran wrap should be left on no more than two hours. then taken off to let the tattoo breath. after care with soap and water once a day. like dial pump soap. 3 times a day apply a non sented lotion like lubriderm. do not use neosporin! no sun, tanning, swimming, or self tanners for 6 weeks.

Answer #5

I put bacitracin on mine to keep it from getting infected and to keep it from drying out, but other than that I didn’t do anything special with mine, keep it moist and let it breathe- and you will be fine, the only exception to this was while I was working the first couple of days I kept a bandage on it to keep it from getting dirt in it and to keep it from bleeding all over.
