How can I talk to my parents about money in an adult way?

I need to talk to my parents about money, not in like an “I want an allowance” way… but in a “hey I know our situation is really tight right now, and I want to help” way. I would really like to funmail some people with more of an explanation (I don’t really feel that comfortable posting some stuff here) to get some advice.

you can tell them the way you just wrote it here. do you have a job? if not get some part time work. if you cant find a job do some work around the house like cleaning and keeping everything organized, that way your parents can focus on more important things. i would make sure to always eat the schools free meals (new york gives free breakfast and free lunch too if you qualify) so that i wouldnt have to complain to my parents that i am hungry. shorter showers and all that jazz. everything is going to be okay so no worries d;
