sushi(healthy or not)

I love eating sushi and I have doubts if its healthy or not or if it has a lot of calories

I usually get either the california rool, crunch rool, shrimp temtura roll and other that are similar.

In terms of health risk, if it is fixed in an established Sushi restaurant it should be fine. Actually safer than a med. rare steak in my opinion at your local steakhouse.

Not many calories and nutritionally very good for you. Tempura is a little less healthy as it is deep fried. California roll is great. But it is actually called maki not sushi. But if you want to do real sushi, you can start with shrimp - it is fully cooked (steamed) and is delicious. When you are ready for actual raw fish on your sushi, try tuna or salmon. Both are mild fish.

As you probably know, that pretty little green mound that comes with these dishes is wasabi - a wonderfully HOT Japanese horseradish. So mix that in your soy sauce with caution. (I love lots!) I sometimes go with a friend who will never try the raw fish varieties and they get tempura or hibachi style meat, and those choices are all excellent tasting.

Enjoy it all.

I dont know about calories but I know its pretty good for you and it tastes great

Mmm, seaweed salad…

Answer #4

it’s not just about calories being healthy…

look at the saturated fat levels and the sugar carbohydrates…these are the things that are bad for you, sushi is high in fats, but they’re the good fats…

I know that it can be high in salt (dependent on how much soya sauce you use lol!!) but basically, suchi is good for you. the japanese have the LOWEST rates of obesisty and heart problems…that must say something for their diets!

Answer #5

If you eat anything too often, nothing is healthy. Everyone needs to eat a little of everything once in a while to be really healthy. For me, I hate fish and vegetables. But I never mind eating them when used in sushi. So that’s an excuse for me to eat something I don’t usually love eating. Fried stuff can’t be good for health, but if you like it and you don’t eat too often, don’t worry about it.

Answer #6

To add to all this great information, seaweed is VERY good for you.

Answer #7

Sometimes people will get stomach aches to sushi because of those uncooked warnings that every restaurant has. Other than that, some of the more oilier fish like white tuna or fresh mackerel are chock full of Omega 3s, which improve brain activity or something fancy like that.
