What are you supposed to do when you're on your period?

Everytime I get my period, I feel extremely lazy and never feel like doing anything. Is it good to exercise while on your period? I never do because I get really bad cramps and it hurts to do anything active. My periods are also a little heavy. I’m also a gymnast and I just can’t seem to do ANYTHING when I’m on my period. It feels really uncomfortable. But anyways, what are things that I SHOULD be doing. Are there any tips I can use to make my menstrual cramps go away. Is there any way I can make it so my period doesn’t distract me from extracurricular activities?

Actually, light exercise is supposed to help with your cramps a little. From what I’ve read before, things with potassium help like bananas. Take a warm, hot shower, that always makes me feel better, or hold a hot water bottle to you tummy. If your cramps are really bad, consider taking midol. And since you’re a gymnast, perhaps consider using tampons? If you are comfortable of course, it’s just easier to move around with without accidents.

You don’t have to do anything lol I usually lay down n feel like doing nothing. But I get bad cramps to taking a warm shower helps. Or getting a heated pad or hot water bottle and putting it bellow your belly botten should help. or take midol.

It’s normal for your period to be irregular and a bit heavy at first, It’s also normal to feel lazy, a bit moody, tired, bloated, you stomach hurts, even you head might hurt. Excercising during your period is a good way to help cramps, even if you’re hurting, try to do simple exercises without hurting yourself, if not, just relax. For cramps warm baths, heating pad, even a plastic bottle filled with warm water (make sure it’s not too hot!) is a good way to get rid of them or to help with the pain. What you should do is take nice hot (but not too hot or with heavy pefumes or soaps, causes the v@giina area to be a bit painful and it’ll get irritated) EAT HEALTHY I know you’ve probably heard that a million and one times but it does help, you feel so much better eating an apple than eating a doughnut or a poptart, this is where you need healthy carbohydrates to fuel your body to make it flow right. Also be careful with your emotions, even when it seems like it’s not a big deal, you may snap at someone or yell at them for something stupid because you’re overreacting, everything seems to bother you a bit more, it seems like you get less sleep, so you get kinda cranky, just try to drink a relaxing tea, take a bath, read a book. You also will “bloat” meaning it feels like you can’t suck in your stomach, just wear stretchy pants (you don’t have to wear sweatpants, just not skinny jeans or anything like that, it feels like someone pushing your stomach back, it hurts a bit after a while =P Hoped this helped! Good luck!

If you’re having cramps hot compress can relieve the pain or you can just take pain killers. I don’t really take meds unless the pain is no longer tolerable.

Obviously I have no personal experience here…. But from when I soeak to some girls they each have their own personal trick for it. Some squirm around there bed…. Some drink orange juice. Some even use a stress ball. I think you should experiment with trying different methods. Sorry it’s only girls who go through this, hope you feel better soon.

The best thing I have found for cramps is raspberry leaf tea. It has to be the leaves, not the fruit. Its really good because it is a smooth muscle relaxer, so it works on the smooth muscle cells of your uterus. I also find I get really tired. Make sure your iron levels are okay because this is a problem for a lot of women.

For me since i’m on the go i usually take take to ibuprofen and it helps a lot. I’m the type i get bad cramps throw up feels like i want to rip my girl parts out. But ibuprofen helps when you don’t have time to just lay down. When i take these just me everything is a lot better just limit what you usually do to less. Works out for me.
