Why do we strive for power?

Why? and it is a bad thing?

Answer #1

Some feel it will put them at the top of the food chain, in some lengths it will but some will end up being hungry for power to where they just drive people away.

In some cases it is a bad thing to want nothing but power, but if you want it and prove you want it for a good cause, it’s not a bad thing. Just don’t let it get to your head.

Answer #2

Sometimes it’s a bad thing but people usually want to be a bigger/better person.. they would you want to be the lowest and powerless ?

Answer #3

i think we strive for power because it is a part of the human nature when we have power, it makes us feel better and more important than others. power can be good & bad. it is a bad thing when people have too much of it or take advantage of it. power can be a good thing when we use our power wisely and for good, not evil.

Answer #4

well unfortunately some try to control others and be the ones on top, that’s selfish, & it’s dangerous.

Answer #5

You might,I dont…So…why the we bit?…I am content being in charge of myself,I am as big as any one else,i am as rich as any one who does not want more than they need…I live in a resonable society that gives me the options of being free and being myself, and i live it to the rules edge…Now,if i was insecure or bullied ,abused, mind brain washed by others insecuritys,tv,celeb hype or had some thing wrong with my body/size/look…then yes power would be rewarding to compensate for my mentaly unstable unbalenced problems….I reckon.

Answer #6

Because of how vaguely the question was put, it could still be said that you maintain a sort of power that I assume you would be unwilling to relinquish to someone else: the “charge of myself” you mentioned. You kept a type of power over the society that attempted to make you insecure, bully you, brain wash you with celebrity and media hype. I think that the question has been contemplated by a buttload of people and remains unanswered because we’re too close to the problem. It’s a bad thing, like most things, when people grapple for power without moderation and, almost inevitably, abuse it when they have it.
