Strict parents and boyfriend

I am currently 23…and my parents never liked the idea of me dating..I am going out with this guy for 2 years..and wanted to let let my parents know partly I want to have a future with him and thought that I should be old enough to choose who I want to be with…I tried telling what kinda person he is..but my parents were devastated..and stopped me from going out or making phone calls..they hated the fact that he will start his degree while I have already completed mine…and the fact that his family background aint as good as they hoped…so they stopped me from dating..

I really hope to have a future with my boyfriend and love him…but my parents are stubborn…and strict over me…what should I do?..I tried talking to them but they just won’t listen…

does this happen to a lot of people or issit just my parents that are so annoying?

just go on, they would learn to accept that soon..they’ll get tired of it..and besides, youre their daughter. just dont give up on him..

Are your parents strict about other things too or just this? Try writting them a letter… maybe include the fact that you’re old enough to make you’re own choices, stress the fact that you’re an adult and that you are prepared to have a future with this man and you would really like them to be a part of your entire life, not just what they want. Be very clear but not rude or threatening so they dont get mad or hurt.
