If you haven’t had any new charges for 13 years, misdemeanors included, then the length of time should be enough for most any employer to hire you. Well I shouldn’t say MOST any, but you should have no problem finding a decent job. Most places only check back 7 years, so you don’t even have to tell them you are a convicted felon(I’ve worked for large restraunt chains, construction companies, sales and customer service jobs, telemarketing, and more). More prestigious places like a particular company that I briefly worked for, fired me after a week because they checked back 10 years and mine was 9 1/2 years ago. You can make good enough money at all the jobs I mentioned. If you really want GOOD money and you think you are talented and skilled and able enough, then the next step up is to start your own business. Doing what? Anything. Washing windows, Selling stuff on Ebay that you bought for cheap becuase you purchased a merchants license like knives, or collector dolls or whatever, detailing cars at the owner’s location. Just make some business cards, maybe some flyers, put up an ad in the little nickel for about 30$ a week, get your business license and as soon as you can afford, maybe some bonding and insurance and you can charge like anywhere from 60-200 bucks per vehicle depending on the size, how dirty it was when you started, etc. There’s a lot of different services you can provide to people by starting your own business. I know a guy who drives a Jaguar, has a house that’s almost a million dollars, just from him washing windows, cleaning gutters, and setting up and taking down christmas lights and decorations. all the business is done at the person’s house, you don’t have to pay for a storefront, the tools you need are pretty cheap. Just somethin to think about brother, I got a felony too and I started a painting business that I ran for six years until I was forced to stop so I could take care of a family member struck down with medical troubles. If you want to start a business though, you gotta start with what you have and work your way up slowly and save up your money to grow your business just like you would a garden. Good Luck. I hate working for other people but I still do it frequently.

Well, you could go at night if you are working…or you could get a pell grant…I don’t believe you can get a student loan with a felony though. There are ways to go to school even if you can’t afford it. Sometimes you can’t afford not to go. It’s all up to you though.

This is for texaskimmie I’m not financially stable at this time now what. I just think that after a certain amount of years the state should let it go that is why crime is so high. I don’t break the law because I believe God will provide.

Answer #4

If you can go and get a degree in something. That way you can show your employer that you’ve totally changed, and did something to better your life. It will help a lot, and could do a lot to zero that old felony out.
