Strep throat and a lip ring, bad combo?

Hi! My mom is a Registered Nurse (and I already have a doctor’s appointment on Monday), so PLEASE don’t say anything like “Go to the doctor, tard” or anything rude because I absolutely can’t stand the rude behavior.

I just got my lip pierced on Thursday, so I obviously have a few weeks before it’s healed. Well, my throat started hurting last night, and when I woke up this morning, there were (and still are) pustules on my tonsils. So, all I’m wondering is if the strep throat bacteria can somehow get into the piercing wound and infect it… because that’d be horrible. D:

Thanks!~

Hmmm, I can’t say for sure, but I’d be careful and keep your lip ring as clean as possible. Try to keep your tongue away from it and try gargling with salt water to help your throat. Hope it all works out for you.

I doubt it will affect the peircing itself however, itll probably take longer to heal since your body will be trying to hel two different things at the same time so keep an eye on your lip ring also dont gargle with dsalt water! you need sae salt, and warm water but its better to put it in a cup and rest the peircing in there for about 15 mins…however, all that does is clean it

That is a good question. What does your mom say about it? I would be interested in the answer to this.

In the meantime, be sure to use something like Listerine. I’m sure that it would be rough on your throat so just put some on a cotton swab and swab around the lip ring regularly.
