By the time your old enough to go to NYU, then it won’t matter what your mom says. You can’t teach someone to be street smart. You can only learn through experience try hitchhiking across the country. If you live through that, and there’s no guarantee that you will live through it. Then you’ll likely be street savvy. Your mom probably just doesn’t want you to go because she’s afraid you’ll be taken advantage of. If she’s sheltered you your whole life then she’s probably right. You will be taken advantage of, but thats how you learn to be street savvy. Don’t trust people even when they call themselves friends, remember it’s friends not enemies who will stab you in the back because your not expecting it. You know enemies mean you harm so your watching for it and vigilante. “Me I’m dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly it’s the honest ones you have to watch out for, you never can predict if they’re going to do something incredibly stupid.” (Jack Sparrow)

Well you’re going to have to show here that you are mature enough to be streetwise. Talk to her and handle your responsibilities well ie: cleaning the house. Once you show that you are ‘grown-up’ then she hsould hopefully trust you. You also need to gain some sort of trusting bond with her (that’s if you havn’t already) =] Try talking to her about it and tell her how and why you feel that you are streetwise. Good luck =]
