I’ve been straightening my hair for awhile now and have learned that you should ALWAYS use some kind of heat protection to keep your hair from getting so damaged! I use Biosilk, Silk Therapy(a little expernsive, but lasts a very long time!), and my straightener of choice is the CHI ceramic straightener(also expernsive and lasts, but great hair is worth it!).

First you should do your hair in layers for the most effective style, also, it will stay straight longer if you do it in smaller sections.

Second, pour a tiny bit of biosilk in your hand (less than a dime size amount) and smooth through the layer of your hair.

Then, run the straightener slowly through all the way down to the ends. (only do this once, if you do it slow enough, that’s all it takes and is less damaging!)

Just repeat through about 3-5 layers of your hair (depending on your hair’s thickness) and you’re done!

Remember, straighteners are very damaging to your hair, so try to prevent as much damage as possible by taking your time!

What really works for me is first make sure your hair is wet, like after you have taken a shower, then blow dry it really good, then with another persons help take out an iron that you use on clothes and iron your hair (it sounds really weird but trust me it makes your hair really sraight and thin) and then use a flat iron to straighten any curls you didnt get.

Answer #4

HEY If your still trying flat irons and they just arent working. Try an Iron, you know the kind you iron your clothes with. just don’t leave it on to long..

MY hair is to my bum to:

-make sure your straigtner is good quality and not like $5

-let it get hot, mine gets hot in 30 seconds but i usually let it get hotter so i wait like 5 minutes

-go over and over it

U could try using straightening creams and shampoos. My hair is really thick and wavy; so i straighten it everyday. I use Straightening shampoo and straightening creams. It helps a lot Also if u have a wet or dry straightener it straightens better dry and doesnt cause as much damage

i would suggest getting a rly good expensive straightener…like maybe one of the ceremic ones…or ones like they use in the salon…they are expensive, but worth the money. also try straightening it in layers, like pull it half back, and straighten the under first, then gradually let some down. let me know if this works. my email is codysbabygirl41706@yahoo.com put the subject as funadvice or something like that so i don’t delete it. hope this helps

Answer #8

I agree. Get a pair of good quality straighteners. A very good investment in my opinion. Make sure you condition your hair well before you straighten and do it in layers (starting from the bottom up is the way I do it).

If your hair is really curly you might want to try blow drying it first with a round brush to get the major curls out then go over with straighteners to finish. This is, however, very damaging to your hair. If your hair isn’t that curly just let it dry naturally then straighten once its dry. But honestly a good quality pair of straighteners is the key. Happy straightening! x

Answer #11

Answer this question… how long have you been straightening your hair? and do you get it cut often? Awhile ago I had thesame problem and when I went tp go get my hair trimmed, they told me my hair is dry and when it gets dry and frizzy your ends are bad and you need to get your hair trimmed… and I would also reccomend using deep conditioner and maybe some stuff called milk… they sell it in hair salons for like 15-$20.
