Can I get my hair straight without a straightener?

My hair is naturally curly. Is there a way I can blowdry it straight or straight with a curl at the bottom? (I don’t like straighteners)

Get what’s called a Marilyn brush. It’s a round brush with natural animal bristles and a wooden handle. The longer your hair, the bigger brush you can get. Section off hair and start with it approximately 50% damp. Pick up a small section of hair with the brush, wrap it around and blow dry it outward and downward with your hair dryer nozzle following closely behind the brush–about an inch or two away from your hair. Keep doing this from root to tips, with long, outward, downward motions. If you notice your wrists and arms hurting–loosen up. Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy and light to do and doesn’t require a lot of tension from you. Let the brush do the work for you. Don’t worry about getting it perfect. Once you have completed drying all your hair this way, then run a large curling iron (get a good one that gets up to at least 430 degrees farenheit through the sections. Some people’s hair curls again very fast, some very little once you straighten it with a blow dryer. So just listen to what your hair tells you. You may only need to go through it to tame the frizzies. Also I like Proclaim’s (you can get it as Sally’s) glossing cream. Once you’re down blowdrying, use VERY LITTLE and evenly apply throughout hair to tame frizzies and add shine.

If you are totally lost, go to a stylist and ask her to teach you how to do it at home. Don’t expect to pick it up overnight. It may take you several or dozens of tries before you get your system down efficiently.
