How do I stop procrastinating?

I have a real problem with procrastinating :( I always do things the night before they’re due. I can’t concentrate AT ALL if the due date isn’t the next day. But when I do end up doing them (the night before) they turn out..well, medeocre at best, and it’s really starting to effect my grades. Does anyone know how I can stop procrastinating??

Answer #7

Drink a energy drink and do it while your hyped up on it. :)

Answer #8

lol. Uhm right. So back to your question. I used to have this issue, still do sometimes. I use rewards. First I set a time I need to get stuff done (usually the time I get it is the best time to do it, not the time it is due). And then, I sit down and do it. If I get like a 1/5 of it done, then I get to do something. Spend 20 mins on the computer or whatever. I set a timer, and then 20 minutes later get back to work. And for getting it done completely, I get another reward. It helps with the motivation.

Answer #9

Thanks! I’ll try that :3

Answer #10

Well..let’s jst say..that energy drinks don’t work well with me. I talk so fast it’s almost impossible to understand me. And for some reason my pupils get HUGE, and people always ask me if I’m high -_-. So, thanks :D…but no thanks. XD

To be honest, procrastination is like a bad habit. Easy to start, hard to stop. Take one little step at a time. Start with the easy things, to get more stuff out of the way, and feel confident. If something is due the next day, DEFINITELY finish that first. if your teacher gives you a project, try to start it as soon as you receive it. Print out a calendar or something, and write down everything you need to do. Write a priority list, and when you finish something, cross it out, and reward yourself. Try to remove all electronics and distractions from your work area, and have only school work (or whatever else you’re “procrastinating” on) around you.

Good luck, may the force be with you. ;D Hahaha. ^-^

Well…they work for me…I didn’t do a project until the night before so I drank 6 monsters just to get it done. And by the time I was done it was 6 in the morning. I didn’t sleep…I drank anther one on my way to school. Like you my pupils got really big and I was sent home because the princapal thought I was high…but I got a 94 on the project. :) But I was grounded because my mom thought I was high as well…then I crashed for about 15 hours..it was a Friday. :D

Answer #17

Good one!

Answer #18

I quit being one by FORCING my body to do what needed being done…I learned that my mind would soon follow. You probably haven’t had a huge consequence for procrastination…..yet. But you will, that’s what motivated me.

Answer #19

I don’t have advice, but I have the same problem, even when I know I’m procrastinating and I know I should do whatever I need to do, I just can’t do it till later, or sometimes not at all.

You just gotta use willpower and hopefully once you get started with the work, you will continue and eventually finish it.

What I like to do is take my work in small bits, just start, take a quick break (check funadvice or something lol), then work a little more, repeat until finished.
