Sound dive on Dimensions 2400

k heres a good one for any comp wizzs out there I deleted my sound drive a long time ago =) dont ask how I just did haha I installed SOUNDMAX and, well I get microsoft video sound, as well as quicktime video and itunes but anything like youtube wont play sound, or any music players online or ANYTHING else.

anyone out there want to tell me wht I can do? I know people have fixed this before but I don’t know how, and the DELL guys dono wht to do other than completly rebooting comp and re-installing my OS, which id rather not do..

Sounds like its is not a driver issue if you are getting some sound - most likely a codec missing … I use XP Codec pack it will allow you to play almost anything and has an all-in-one installer. you can download it there

re-install your sound driver again, check your motherboard brand or the name of your sound devices which you can see on dxdiag then find the right CD DRIVER for your sound devices.

to see if your sound driver is not installed, follow this steps..

Right Click on your “MY COMPUTER” Click Manage On the left side, click Device Manager on the right side you will see the list their, find and select the SOUND, VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLER,,… Click the “+”sign to collapse… IF YOU SEE A YELLOW QUESTION MARK/EXCLAMATION, you will know that, still there is no driver installed for your sound.
