How to write a song?

I don’t really know how to write songs but I can. if you want I can write a song for you. I just need to know what you want it to be about.

As kooled said, it has to be from the heart, with passion, inspiration, a reason. you really have to feel it. If you don’t know how to play an instrument, or sing, or even know a little music theory, than song writing isn’t for u, not untill you know the basics of music even.

with that being said, find a reason for writing a song, maybe the police(the popo, the Hawaii 5-O, the Fuzz) givin you sh*t, or maybe something in society that you just can’t stand(a political song) or maybe about a loved one(love song). Watever is your motivation, use it, and write up some lyrics, come up with a tune. there are some different tonalities that are used with every style of writing, just find urs. A hate song, or sad song, tend to have a minor tonality. Think of it this way: Minor - Sad, Mad. Major - Happy. Mix the two up, then you might find what it is your looking for. A lot of songs(almost all), don’t use JUST minor notes, or JUST major, they use a mixture, its just what order, or how strong of which notes will make your tonality really portray watever you want. Now, that was just simplifying it. If you learn music theory you will learn much more, that was just the general idea.

You know what’s funny? I’ve been writting songs since 4th grade. I don’t even think about the music at all. I think about the lyrics only, I don’t even play any insturments. but you know what? I go back and read the very first songs I’ve ever writtin in fact I still have them. I still write songs just not as much. I even write songs online on msn with one of my friends and we’ve written two last year. So you don’t always have to think of the music you want espcially if you don’t play any insturments. I figure if I want music for my songs I’ll go to a friend who plays the guitar or any insturment then he or she can help me out with the music for or to my song(s). I have written atleast over 90’s songs I have to go back and clean out the binder though. because I did write some songs by hand from my fave singers just because I really like the songs.

I write a lot of songs I sit down in a comfortable spot and I think about my life, family , and friends I get a beat then a tune then the lyrics I wrote 13 songs and I am not done I need to be relaxed tho with no noice but my calm breathing GOOD LUCK allison

How to write a song? Well, you need to have a beat first. Then write words for that song, then simply add in music. You see, its all about layers. The more layers you put on, the better it sounds. Its simple. Hope I helped.

You also need a good source of inspiration and it has to be born from passion,well thats if you want to make a good song
