slow baking a chicken

I want to slow bake 2 chickens for xmas so it is tender and soft and skin is not crispy. What temp should I use and how long do I bake it for

Answer #1

you could use one of those OVEN ROASTING BAGS, and follow the directions on the package.

if not that, then I would recomend using a roaster pan with a lid- pour some chicken broth- like maybe 2 cans into your roaster, place the chickens in- put the lid on it, and bake at 325* for maybe an hour and a half- figure maybe 15 minutes per pound of chicken- CHECK THE COOKED TEMPERATURE WITH A MEAT THERMOMETER BEFORE SERVING TO INSURE IT IS COOKED ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

doing it like that should keep the skin somewhat soft- or slightly crispy.

my best advice would be to try the roasting bags- I have had good results with those.

If you don’t use the roasting bag make sure like every 15-20 minutes you are basting the chicken…this will help to make the chicken skin tender.
