Why do I feel sleepy?

Why it is that sometimes when I eat lunch I get really sleepy afterwards? For instance, I would eat some food then go and study (because you cant study on an empty stomach) then like 10 minutes later my face is in the book…

Answer #1

Instead of eating a sandwich or soup for lunch eat a raw salad or a raw piece of fruit. Eating raw gives you lots of energy which won’t be lost while your food is digesting!

Answer #2

You might try keeping track of what you’ve eaten prior to feeling sleepy. You may find out that it is sugars/carbohydrates that causes it, in which case you could try avoiding them and eating more protein.

Answer #3

After you eat, your body takes the nutrients you had in your body prior to eating and uses them as energy to digest the food you have just eaten. Most of your energy is spent on the digestion of the food.

some foods (such as turkey) have things in them that make epople sleepy. you may also be low in iron (iron defficency anemia) like me. go to the doctor and ask for a test. (all they do is prick your finger and they can give you the results in like 5 minutes). if you are, your doctor can out you on an iron supplement that will get you right back to normal. hope I helped!

Answer #5

I would strongly suggest that if this happens regulary, you get checked out with your doc for diabetes.

This can be done by a simple bloodtest.

Funny enough, Im have an appointment for the very same test next friday with my own doc.
