What do you think about the sl*t walk in Toronto?

A while ago an officer suggested that young women not dress like “slu.ts” for their own safety. Women then marched in Toronto against this. What do you think about it? After a long talk about this, my friend and I concluded that a woman should not be blamed for ra.pe, that there is never an excuse for it, however, the way a woman dresses does increase your chances. As my friend said, when he sees women dress really revealing, he feels an urge to “lift the skirt” but doesn’t do it obviously. And with that we agreed that if a women were to be dressed revealingly, and around drunk men, or other men, rap.e should not be blamed on the woman but the way she dresses does have an effect on their own personal safety. Views and thoughts?

Answer #1

Before watching the video it sounded absolutely stupid. But they are doing it for a good cause so I personally commemorate them.

Answer #2

Yeah. Men get all aroused and sh** when a woman shows off her assets. Yada, yada. But because a woman is beautiful, sexy, pretty, cute ect. does not mean she deserves to be sexually assaulted.

Answer #3

‘however, the way a woman dresses does increase your chances’ Really? And what exactly backs you up on that statement? Does the research point towards this? Alcohol, yes. But clothing? Ra.pe is about power, not sex. What a person is wearing is irrelevant. The officer is an idiot and good for the women. 100 years ago showing your ankle was supposed to be bad form. We live in a chauvinistic world where men have the power so it’s easier to try to blame women. Time to get over it. Women can walk around naked for all I care. It is not ok to touch uninvited. End of story.

Answer #4

I never said it was the woman’s fault I just agree that it may be safer for women.

Answer #5

its not fair guys can walk around in there boxers and not care but if girls show there chests off abit we suffer so much in the end. its not fair and its not an excuse to be raped. we hav bodies were proud of tht we dont just show off for guys to be attracted but for our own self esteem to say i apreciate and am not afraid to show my body. ya we may dress like suts, but guys dress way suttier if u ask me since the wear no shirt more then a girl would in public
