Sick kittens.

Can someone help me? It first started off with one kitten not too long after he was born He started to have watery eyes and stuffy nose And his eyes would even stick together (the poor thing) And he was walkin around with both eyes glued shut! And well since we havent been able to find a good (cheap) vet I think he gave the ‘sickness’ to my other 3 kittens bc they are starting to sneeze And the other one (smallest) already has watery eyes and one eye shut And he’s meowing a lot..like if he was asking for help! I don’t know what to give them Or put on their eyes so they can stop having them so watery and sticky looking And what to do so those two can breathe better and my other two to stop sneezing! And stop it before their eyes get shut and have difficulty breathing too!

Is there any at home remedies or What is this sickness they have?

(and yes I have tried medicine like From the counter for pets But it only makes them better for a little while.)

talk to a professional, like a vet or someone.

Sounds like ( sorry about spelling hope you can get it) PRC. either Panluekapinia, or CaliciRhino. It is a Upper Respitoy infection in kittens, I am so sorry to tell you they need antibiotics. Most like called Clavomox Drops. It is hard to treat and fight on your own. Maybe try and call the local shelter and let them know you are fostering them and what you can do. If you had this liter on your own, you may not get any help, there are rescue groups out there, try and find them and see what they can do. I found a kitten and a no kill rescue took her in to foster her. good luck,

Vets are expensive, trust me - I know…I foster animals and I have 2 dogs, 8 cats, a hamster and a tarantula in my house.

Sometimes going to the vet without a better understanding can be difficult on the finances.

Go here and ask your question: http://www.askvetadvice.com/ At least then you can get a good idea of whether this is something that can be dealt with at home, or if a vet is absolutely necessary. I’m leaning on the latter, though…you might have to break the bank and get them a professional diagnosis.

Answer #4

There are two things to think about.

  1. They need an antibiotic ointment from the vet. You aren’t going to be able to get it from the store, they need a vet. ASAP.

  2. Eye ailments are often symptoms of other, bigger, issues. Have they been tested for FIV and FeLv? (Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS?) If not, get them tested ASAP. Unless they came from a planned breeding of 2 healthy cats, they could likely have one of these diseases.

I have a kitten with runny eyes. Its litter mate died this morning. I live way out in the country. What could I give the kitten to maybe help? I feel like I need to try something.
