Should I get a friend for my lovebird?

I’ve had my lovebird, Zac, for approximately 14 months now, and he’s a little bit trained, but still fairly strong willed. He likes me a lot, and I love him, but he doesn’t like anyone else except me, and that makes it difficult for anyone else to get him out of his cage when I’m at school. He’s out a lot when I’m in the house, but I’m afraid he might be a bit lonely or bored when I’m away. I was thinking about getting him a friend, but I thought that might make Zac less friendly towards me. Having a mate might make the new bird harder to tame, aswell. If I were to get another bird, it would almost certainly be a peach faced lovebird, like Zac, to try and minimise fighting between the birds. Is there any way to predetermine the gender of the new bird, because Zac is technically a girl (long story) and I don’t want them to breed. Is it wise to get another bird at this stage?

it would be a bit harder to tame the bird if you get it a mate and the most likely reasion the bird dosen’t like any one else is because the bird see’s you as its momy and and no one else. hope this helped :)
