shortening my period

I got my period yesterday (Monday) and my gyno told me to take Seasonique the first Sunday of my period (no real reason, the pills are just organized that way). If I took the birth control today, would it lighten my current period or would it only help for future ones?

it probably would lighten up your cramps and bloating right now, but you would continue to spot and bled a little, I’ve kinda been wanting to try seasonique.
