shaving underarms never works

No matter what way what razor with or without shaving gel(I’ve tried everything) I can never get my underarms hairless. They feel smooth and hair free but it looks dark like I never shaved. I even tried waxing!! what do I do I can never wear tank tops or anything.

Answer #1

why not just let your under arm hair grow I think that is very sexy

Answer #2

If you do shave it dry, you have a horrible risk of getting razor burn. And that can bug you a lot more than dark arm pits. What I usually do before shaving IN THE SHOWER, is buff it with a loofah first, then shave in every direction in your arm pit. Since arm pit hair tends to grow in every direction, it helps.

Answer #3

Geez sorry. I missed that. You don’t have to freak out.

Answer #4

Just to respond to brooke_lynn - I said that it’s different for every person, so yes it is possible to burn like it does with you BUT it is just as possible to feel completely painless and smooth as it does with me. Skin types are different. Dry shaving doesn’t leave bumps and pain on everyone - let the girl try and see for herself.

Answer #5

I always shave dry and dont have no problems at all. so I agree try if you like or shave in the shower.

Answer #8

I shave the regular way like with gel and a razor and I get dark underarms But my mom does the exact same thing as me and she doesn’t have that problem. And I don’t know how to find the cause of my dark underarms?

Answer #9

well,if u dry shave.it hurts and u can get razer burn or cut yourself and that hurts a lot.but if u dont it works better and u have a SMALL possibility of cutting it and that hurts so bad..but it never gets all the hair off no matter what but it gets most. and it only turns brown because it bruses when you shave it wrong,i think..maybe..I dont know.im not a doctor.okay now im just talking too much.Peace :)

Yeah, the skin doesn’t like the shaving so it bruises like that and looks dark. The darkness is there from continuous shaving so it won’t just disappear overnight, but you can try a couple of things to give the skin a break so it can recover. One thing I’ve found works, as weird as it seems, is shaving dry… Make sure that both the skin and the razor are completely dry, that the razor is sharp and the hairs are short. It hurts a lot less, if at all, there are no bumps and it doesn’t bruise (because the pores of dry skin are closed and it feels smoother overall). Now, this may not work on everybody, and certainly hurts on other parts of the body, so no promises, but it works for me. Just put some moisturizer or soothing cream on it afterwards. Good luck!
