What is the point of shaving cream?

Question. If I use shaving cream when I shave my legs will it like last longer or sumthing? What exactly does shaving cream do?

Answer #1

Shaving cream is a lubricant. It allows the razor to easily glide over skin.

Back when i raced bikes I shaved my legs and to tell the truth I usually didn’t use shaving cream. Leg skin is not as sensitive as face skin and I found it unnecessary.

Answer #2

Shaving creams are supposed to make your shaving experience enjoyable. They are supposed to help prevent cuts, razor burns, and best of all make your legs smooth. Nothing special to it.
