Where did "no shave november" come from?

No guys over here shave for all november and i’m curious what started this.

I think it just started because November is when it starts getting cold therefore letting your beard grow out to keep your face warm.

It started here a while ago with a radio campaign, seeing who could grow the coolest mustache in a month, making it ‘Mo-vember’ Then it just developed into Don’t shave at all month….
