What does "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network" mean?

I have a dell (windows vista) laptop. I go to “connect to a network” and I can’t connect to our wifi it says “the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network” and an red X next to it. How do I change the settings or whatever so I can reconnect to our wifi and use the internet

Due to your laptops settings, it is unable to ‘talk to’ the network in order to connect…..you might want to: review the owners manual, take it in for a professional to look at, contact Dell customer service via net (possible live chat) or phone number/s…..I had a similar problem with my HP, went to the website where i connected to a technition who remotely took control and made the changes 4 me……

I think it’s trying to tell you that your Wifi card or settings are disactivated . Do a troubleshoot maybe that will tell you the problem. And as fof Vista, smh. Vista has limits on many computers, it was almost like a beta, and many computers aren’t compatible to it. That’s why I went from Win Xp to Win 7 to Win 8. Even if a dell computer came with it, doesn’t mean it will support all actions, plus it has a more difficult interface.
