How can my Mom and I get help?

I am very sorry to hear of this tragic event in your lives. There are many public agencies that can and do help people in your situation. Also, the local Salvation Army can help or the food bank. Local churches can also help. Don’t be afraid to ask. It must be scary for you both and stressful too. Things will get better for you. :)

Salvation Army and Red Cross’s available for terrible instances such as this, or you can go to the local social services office and request temporary homeless assistance, and at least you and your mother can say in a motel paid for by the state that you live in until you guys can find a place, but if the fire incident was at the fault of someone else, try seeing if they can offer some monetary assistance. Ok, so you’re on the internet, and you need help. The first thing you should do is contact your local social services office - if your mom hasn’t already. Then make an appointment. Then, have your mom fill in all the paperwork to get food stamps, etc, while you get back on your feet.

They’ll help you out as much as you need. If your mom can’t find the local social services office, then contact your local city or county government office, and they can direct you to it.
