Bats, also known as flying foxes are mammals which can fly. They belong to the Chiroptera order and form the second largest group of mammals.
Bats fall under two main categories – Megabats (megachiroptera) and Microbats (microchiroptera).
Megabats belong to the Pteropodidae family which is further divided into 7 subfamilies. Microbats or echolocating bats are usually referred to by their scientific name.

From what I've read, the scientific name of bat is Pipistrellus Pipistrellus
Chiroptera.
