Science in the bible

I have a question. In genesis, does it say anything about chemistry? or, in any other parts of the bible?

here is an example: “in the beginning…god created the heavens and the earth”

in that sentence alone, the bible talks about time, space, and land. now, im trying to see if there is anything about chemistry in the bible at all… does anyone know?? (sorry if this is confusing)

Answer #1

They think that if it has to do something with science - it’s more true. No?

Answer #2

I seem to recall portions of Leviticus discussing mold remediation…which I suppose is a crude form science.

Answer #3

not literally no I dont think

Answer #4

Furthermore I would like to mention that science is mentioned in the bible MANY times. It wasnt untill recently that we discovered everything that we know about the body and about the solar system that it has been made clear. Back then when people read the bible a lot of things were taken as symbolism, now we know that is not the case.

[CORINTHIANS 15:41] What does that mean in relation to modern science? Well looking at a star from the time it was written they all looked the same, now however with our fancy equipment we can see that each one is very unique. Now it could be said that some stars were brighter then others, however a lot of them appeared to be the same in size and brightness. But it was specifically mentioned that every star was different. Just a coincidence?

Yes… a coincidence… and a very VAGUE one. They didn’t all look the same. The OTHER PLANETS appear larger and brighter in the night sky. Now, just as they did back then. And the explanation had to do with the different physical properties of things. From man to beast, skyward to the sun, moon, and stars, what writers of the time considered to be ‘heavenly bodies’ …of course… you left part of the story out.

[Job 26:7] Well consider that back in those times gravity pretty much dictated everything within their lives. Could it be possible that the earth was hanging by the north over nothing is merely a lucky guess?

Again… vague and NOT scientific. North is only ‘up’ in relation to MAPS; and the terms ‘north’ and ‘up’ have no real bearing off planet.

[Job 28:25] Again, this primitive time speaking to a modern understanding. Air was never thought to actually have weight.

Sounds more like wind-SPEED… how HEAVY the winds BLOW…

[Ecclesiastes 1:6] That pretty much sums up our atmosphere.

No it doesn’t… by that explanation, the air is running the length of the FLAT world, then flipping a u-turn and heading back. That sums up nothing… vague and not scientific…

[Ecclesiastes 1:7] It does not mention evaporation but it clearly notes that the earth recycles its water.

It doesn’t CLEARLY note recycling. That’s just what you WANT it to mean. Once again… vague and not scientific…

The early chapters of Genesis repeatedly mentions according to its own kind. Saying that everything reproduces itself and specifically noting that it does not evolve. Now the theory of evolution was a long way from being thought since it was written.

Well, since evolution has been PROVEN to occur… I guess the Bible is wrong on that account. So why’d you bring it up?

[Isaiah 40:22] It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, Circle? Wasn’t it common knowledge back then that the earth was flat?

sigh …a circle IS flat…

For example that cable television and airplanes were described in the bible.

Oh…DO share those… -__-

CORINTHIANS 15:41 [There is] one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for [one] star differeth from [another] star in glory. What does that mean in relation to modern science? Well looking at a star from the time it was written they all looked the same, now however with our fancy equipment we can see that each one is very unique. Now it could be said that some stars were brighter then others, however a lot of them appeared to be the same in size and brightness. But it was specifically mentioned that every star was different. Just a coincidence?

Job 26:7 He strecheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. Well consider that back in those times gravity pretty much dictated everything within their lives. Could it be possible that the earth was hanging by the north over nothing is merely a lucky guess?

Job 28:25 To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure. Again, this primitive time speaking to a modern understanding. Air was never thought to actually have weight.

Ecclesiastes 1:6 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirled about continually, and the north returneth again according to his circuits. That pretty much sums up our atmosphere.

Ecclesiastes 1:7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. It does not mention evaporation but it clearly notes that the earth recycles its water. (Water evaporation has been mentioned many times in the bible)

The early chapters of Genesis repeatedly mentions according to its own kind. Saying that everything reproduces itself and specifically noting that it does not evolve. Now the theory of evolution was a long way from being thought since it was written.

Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bone. First part wasn’t really a part of science until very recently. It has been said that those who are up beat and happy generally heal quicker then those who are not.

Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, Circle? Wasn’t it common knowledge back then that the earth was flat?

If you would like any more please email me, I would be happy to send many more examples. For example that cable television and airplanes were described in the bible. That’s enough for me right now though. I am tired. Hope this helps.

Answer #7

Tell the airplane and television part please :D

Answer #8

Well, the Bible is mainly teaches wisdom while science teaches knowledge.

I believe every person at some extant has knowledge while not many have true wisdom.

I also think that Wisdom is often mistaken for knowledge and that wisdom in its self is rarely understood.

Wisdom would suggest that there’s is a god while knowledge build up over time would show other wize by using facts

There’s the problem, knowledge is based on facts while wisdom is based on understanding.

The Bible is based on teaching wisdom and revolves on wisdom, it can not be proven right or wrong by knowledge.

Therefor, I guess “chemistry’” is not in the bible. But don’t let that discourage your seek for wisdom. For wisdom is the true treasure and will always rain over knowledge.

Also evolution can be proven wrong both by knowledge and wisdom, this is why I believe people who believe this lack in both.

Message me if you have any questions…

Answer #9

no science and the bible are two completely different things they dont co-exist together, they dont support each other at all the bible does NOT talk about science all it says is “god created this and god created that” no word of how he did it exept “POOF” its there science explains things like evolution, how the world was formed and then how animals and plants evolved to were they are today again, with no word of anything about god

Answer #10

I am asking anothr Question. In the same chapter It says “After creating the heaven and earth He took rest” Does God really want rest”. I think He never wants a rest. My Belief is There is no god but He, The Living, the Everlasting, Slumber seizes Him not, neither sleep, To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Who is there that can intercede with His, except by His leave? He knows what lies before them and what is after them, And they comprehend not anything of His Knowledge save as He wills. His throne comprises the heavens and the earth, The preserving of them fatigues Him not, And He is the All-High, All-Glorious.

[Al-Quran: Surat al-Baqarah, Ayah 255]
