Why did my scars turn white?

So far this weekend everyday I’ve been outside on a boat. I put some tanning lotion stuff on my lower legs because they never seem to tan. They got a lil bit of sunburn on them. But what I thought was odd was the fact that my scars turned white instead of being the darker color. Is this their way of burning? Thank you:)

Answer #1

scar tissue is collagen and doesnt contain any melanin so they wouldnt darken in the sun. As for why they turned white, im not sure why that would happen. Have you had them for long? Scars do tend fade in colour over time

Answer #2

Ok, so I’ve had these for a little over a year. But was it the sun that made them fade so suddenly? Because they’re really really white on my red-ish leg.

Answer #3

depends where the scar is, i have scars on legs and they turn darker but scars on my fingers, knees, and elbows turn white.

Answer #4

It’s on my leg, like in the middle of the lower half of it.
