Can I trim my huge rubber tree?

I have a huge, I mean huge rubber tree. I can not transplant it any more because I can not find a bigger pot. It keeps growing and growing. Can I trim it back? If so, how do I do it. After this summer if I don’t do something with it, I will not have any place to put it. I mean it is huge.

Answer #2

Rubber trees are very hardy so they can be trimmed any time. It grows back from the next nod down. Wear loves because the sap may cause itching. Cut just above the nodes or just above a leaf scar.
