Why is it that the roots of my hair really dark on top but as it grows it goes to my light blonde?

It’s done that since I was little and before I dyed my hair

Answer #1

The top roots are a dark blonde but as it grows out (the rest of my hair) is a light blonde. Plus it’s only at the top of my hard and no where else… It’s really weird! Why??

Answer #2

That happens to me too I have light brown hair natrualy but my roots always look black

Answer #3

I hate it :( it makes it look like I dyed my hair when I really didn’t and its impossible to get rid of :((

Answer #4

Because as your hair spends time in the sun, it will lighten. The roots are new hair, the ends are years old- they have been in the light and the sun for years and have naturally lightened. Product usage like washing and styling your hair also lightens it.

Answer #5

Because as it grows out, it is exposed to sun, wind, and other factors that can change or lighten the color. Also if you have gotten highlights or dyed your hair lighter, of course the roots will be darker. It might also have to do with the products you are using on it, but my bet is the sun is lightening your hair.
