Ridiculed because of my nationality and religion.

Its common problem for Americans, especially teenagers, to be completely ignorant of other nationalities, religions, etc. They only know what they’re told, or see on TV. And all too often tend to repeat it… as if its factual…

But we aren’t ALL that stupid.

No, but many are. Anti-Muslim and anti-middle-Eastern bigotry has skyrocketed since 9/11.

People are racist the world over. America is no different. This is their hang up… and it really isn’t your problem. Your problem is overcoming this. Your self esteem shouldn’t be reliant on strangers pecadillos.

Next time this occurs… try to strike up a conversation with these people… they are still humans… you need to realize that lots of people aren’t perfect. These imperfections even when aimed at you can be rectified… and you could find an otherwise pleasant person that holds an unfair opinion.

Your problem is to not become jaded by people… to see through peoples imperfections… and to not care if you can’t change them.

Live your life to its own fulfillment. Worrying about other people’s attitudes only affects you negatively.

That’s an unfortunate thing to have to go through, and I feel for you.

I know not all Americans are like that, but the ones who are speak loudly for the rest of their nation and makes them all look bad. Many Americans try very hard to discourage such behaviour and they, at least, should be granted exemption from the stereotype.

You should be proud of who you are. My aunt married a man who came to Canada from Pakistan and he is the most wonderful uncle I could ever ask for.

hey well I sorta go through the same thing. I am mexican american and at my school mexicans get made fun of all the time by imature boys and girls. I just let it slide cause to me I just ignore it cause they make themselves look stupid. now if they come and threaten me with like a weapon or something then thats just a whole nother thing. but I just told myself that it don’t matter what they said cause I am proud of being mexican! we have some fun traditions. and im proud of what I am. so just ignore them:)

Not all Americans are like that…I am American and I try not to judge anyone on the color of their skin, where they come from, what religion or lack of religion they are. But unfortunately some people do not know better, some people believe that just because one group of people did something horrible that everyone from there does the same.

Don’t judge us all because of a few sorry, pathetic Americans…we’re not all bad.
