How to get rid of the phobia that somebody is standing behind me and going to kill me while I close my eyes and lay on my side?

Answer #1

Omg I have this too somtimes… All I do is bring my dog to sleep with me at night and I feel safe… Even though its kind of silly to be afraid of somthing like that. Uh… try going to bed before your parents and leave you door open when you go to bed so the light will shine in a little. Hope this helps a little :D

Answer #2

Hm, what I would do is push back the thought. Just start thinking about a boy or how good forzen yogurt is. Write a story in your head, and soon enough you’ll forget.

Answer #3

I used to have this phobia too. What I did may sound pretty insane but it worked for me. I was about 15 and was mind was convinced that when the lights were off, it was open season on Renee. I knew, obviously, that there was nobody in my room, but I was still terrified when I had my back to open space in bed. I got pissed off at my mind and decided that if it’s not going to stop fantasizing about my untimely murd3;r, then I would give it a taste of it’s own medicine and totally freak it out. I lay with my lights off and instead of fighting the horrible thoughts, I welcomed them with open arms and reveled in my absolute fear and cowardliness. Once I had worked myself up into such a state, I was able to eventually calm down and any thought that entered my head from that moment on would never compare to the hour and a half of mental torment I put myself through. I sound like an absolute lunatic but hey, it worked.

i know how you feel,i hated that, its the movies lol dont worry bout nothing.just think about something good and nice

Answer #5

I’ve had this conflict as well and it took time to overcome these fears ,so I do know how it feels to be frightened at night especially hearing depressing stories of girls being kidnapped, raped, tortured and people breaking in at peoples homes but then after a while I started praying before I go to bed , started keeping the phones by me, even knifes or any weapon for self defense and then when I use to have a dog, I would have it sleep with me because if someone were to try to break in, the dog would sense it and would start barking. And when i see something suspiscious outside, I notify the police asap about it so after doing all of that night by night , I started feeling more safer and realizing that if someone does try to kill me, i’ll be prepared to defend and fight myself out of it.

Answer #7

I used to have the same thing, I started to sleep with the light on when I was at second grade 9until now though lol). I pushed my bed to the wall and I made position my back against the wall. or I slept on my back flat. It helped.

Answer #8

I have also tried sleeping with a phone in my hand and a pocket knife under my pillow. It really makes me feel safer! Just don’t stab anybody if they come into your room to find somthing.. O.o

Answer #9

See a teenage counsellor.

Answer #10

See a Counsellor who deals with phobias.

Answer #11

Just think that it is impossible for that to happen. Nobody could have gotten in so you are fine and nothing will happen to you. If you just think that way you will be fine also maybe read a book and turn on the light if you can’t sleep because of your fear.

Answer #12

I have this too. I can only sleep on my side if there’s somebody behind me holding me.

Answer #13

I dealt with similar for years. I had to sleep with a light on and had to have my back against a wall, then I got a dog and never had another problems. I knew that if anyone did come into my room, be them real or supernatural, the dog would definitely let me know and protect me, so as long a they are peaceful, I’m all good! : )

Answer #14

I have my bed standing in the corner of my room. I was always afraid of dropping out of the bed. So I just moved it to the corner of the room and placed some pillows between me and the wall.

Maybe that could help you too? So you can sleep on your side knowing that there is a wall in your back and no space for anyone to lurk in between you and the wall.

Answer #15

Oh my goodness me too. If this is occuring in the dark, thats part of the problem. I am 15 and still have a night light. Its also better than sleeping in the total darkness because then you can get up in the middle of the night and not trip over everything. ( I speak from experience) What I did was took pink sort of dim christmas lights, (LED be green!) and hung them up in my room with tacks. When I went to bed I fell more secure, and if I had the least bit of fear, I would turn around and prove to myself no one was there. After a few nights my phobia was gone. Good luck (;
