Honestly it depends on what is causing the insomnia. If it is psychological, there’s methods of dealing with that by yourself or try working with a therapist (say if you’re anxious, you can try deep breathing or other relaxation methods), if it is physical, say sleep apnea or being caused by some other disorder, then you really need a doctor to deal with it. You could try the basic stuff they recommend for sleep disorders. Only use your bed for sleep or sex (i.e. no work, no watching tv, etc). No caffeine past 4pm. No alcohol use (it tends to disturb sleep). Have a bath before bed. Try listening to soothing music. Some people like those noise machines. Dont take naps. If you cant sleep then get up and dont get back into bed until you’re sleepy. Have a regular sleep schedule. If none of that works, you may want to consider a sleep study.

try a hot bath, with candles & soft music…no cell phones, unplug house phone, turn computer off…and just relax for 30-45 mins.

hope that helps…

Answer #3

Try deep breathing (yoga style) when you first get into bed. First just lay there, so your muscles relax….then do the breathing.
