Around here, convienient stores, grocery stores, drug stores ect. all used to have "the penny tray" but no more. Employees say it's because "corporate office says we can't have it anymore" but they don't know why. Any ideas as to why such a decision is being made? It seems ridiculous to me, "the penny tray" is handy for everyone. What's the problem with it?
Someone is way out of touch. I used to always donate my pennies to the tray, they are everyone's pennies. It's a way for all of us to help each other in a small way. I tried to just leave em on the counter today, but the cashier politely asked me not to.

Well I sort of got one piece of an answer today. An employee said it had something to do with loss prevention and that's all she knew. Still not making sesnse to me.
Odd - it's still being used here. I guess we can't really understand how corporate feels that offering a small donation to pay for a purchase is bad for business.
Maybe where I live is fixin to become ground zero or something LOL. I'm loading my rifle and making some jerky tonight. : D
My guess is b/c everyone is using plastic now.
