Removing acrylic nails yourself?

I got acrylic french nails done yesterday for the first time and I hate them - they are sore, like my fingers are sore on the edge of the nails. They are getting in the way of me doing stuff - how can I effectively and safely get them off myself? They seem to be stuck very very firmly in place.

My friend told me soak them in hot water with salt and it will remove them easily I have never tried it but is it true or a joke just to see if I would be dumb to try it?

^^ I’ve had that too, they made my nails bleed! The only reason I got them was for a wedding, never again!

Thanks for the advice guys…I don’t really want to go back there as my friend told me a horror story about when she went to get hers taken off and they like scraped them off like some kind of medievil nail torture and she almost cried in pain…If they were shorter they would be okay I think but im scared to cut them myself…NEVER AGAIN lol.

You can go to a beauty supply store and ask them for something to break down the acrylic then the nail will come off. You will have a half circle shape indentation in your nail from where They ground your nail down. Don’t worry it will grow out eventually. I take a penny with me when I go to have my nails done. When they are at the cutting them down stage I try to pick it up off of the table. If I can’t pick it up then I go smaller until I can. As far as them hurting there could be 2 reasons either the person who did your nails was to rough filing them and the rest of the process or You have taping them on stuff or touching them a lot. Sorry that you didn’t like them Maybe you should give it a few more days. The first time I got my nails done I didn’t like them either and they hurt.

All you need to do is soak them in nail polish remover, every little while try to lift them a bit more at a time. Since they are so new this is going to take some time but it works :)

Answer #6

Go to the place have them cut it down a lot. or go to wal mart get the nail polish remover with acetone. Soak them for a few minutes then slowly go around the edges an it will come off.

Get a knife and use it to force it off..
