Should one ever regret something they once wanted?

Answer #1

I never regret anything, regrets are a waste of life. The past is the past you can’t change it no matter how much you may want to.

Answer #2

I disagree. (haha, not to be mean =) I think that it’s ok to have regrets because it means you can learn from the mistakes you’ve made.

Answer #3

I think regrets have their place as long as one doesn’t dwell on them….and learned something from the mistake that caused the regret.

Answer #4

i agree with Phrannie. it’s ok to regret something as long as u take it as a lesson, so that next time you’re in that situation u don’t make the same mistakes… but if all u do is sit and dwell on the mistakes you’ve made and hate yourself for not doing things differently then it is really not healthy… i learnt that the hard way.

Answer #5

Saying that you have no regrets can’t always be true for a person. Because if you committed a crime, if something happened to someone that you loved and you couldn’t do anything, of course you’ll feel regret. It’s only natural. I know I regret like hell that I couldn’t change what happened when my mom got sick, my parents split, and I hopped from house to house (7 moves). Who would not regret in this situation? Of course, some people are more fortunate than others and have nothing they regret. And sure we can’t go back and rewind or change anything, but dwelling on it and thinking it over is a way to learn, repent, and show that you once felt something for it.

Answer #6

This isnt a personal regret though. You can’t be blamed for the situation (I hope you realize that). Everyone feels sad about certain situations and wishes they didnt happen. But the asker is talking about personal regret (regretting something you did or had or wanted).

Answer #7

I dont necessarily think you need regret in order to learn. Recognizing that it was something you shouldnt have done is not the same thing as regret. I dont like doing the whole regret thing. I honestly think it is a waste of time. I think the only time I hold onto stuff is when I’m trying to punish myself, and that’s hardly healthy.

Answer #8

Oof I read this question wrong, that completely throws the answer out of whack haha.

Answer #9

Lol, don’t get me wrong, it’s defenitly not the only way to learn things. Not what I said. But I do think that if you recognized it as something you shouldn’t have done…well idk about you but to me that’s what a regret kindof means, regardless of how hardly you take it.
