Reading between the lines

If you were to read an amazing novel, what sort of traits, morals, ideas, etc, would it carry? Would a truly beautiful novel have a happy ending, or a sad one?

I’m an aspiring writer, and I plan to someday tell all those who find my book, an amazing love story.

As a writer myself, I’m a pretty harsh critic of the books I read. I count and look for how relateable the characters are, how realistic the story is, things of that nature. I don’t believe real life has happy endings. I think that we can go through things that work out for us, but there’s always struggle and it’s rarely as easy as an romance novel seems to portray it, nor is it so stereotypical as they always turn out to be.

“Guy meets girl, they fall in love, ripped apart by life, joined together years later, happy ending.”

I also love to see odd characters put together and when writer’s take risks with their relationships and their characters. People aren’t always these two beautiful supermodel characters. Relationships aren’t always heterosexual.

I would hope the main characters though they struggle with traits / morals (as we all do) in the end find and do what is right and good - love those happy (maybe surprising) endings…Good luck !!
