Read-only documents
I have a Microsoft Word 2007 document that I have downloaded. It is read only and is not allowing me to type or edit anything. How do I unlock the document so I can make changes to it? If it is relevant, the document is in compatibility mode.
When I right click, all of the possibly options are light gray, I can’t select any of them.
The problem with a ‘read only’ document is that it’s specifically made so that it can’t be modified.
You won’t be able to make changes to the original, but if you copy it all and paste it into a new document, you’ll be able to modify the new one.
Have you tried Ctrl + C?
Did you highlight it all, right click and select copy?
It should let you copy, but it won’t let you cut.
It won’t let me cut or copy the text.
