Would using a razor to thin out your hair give you split ends?

I have heard 2 different stories. I have heard “Yes it will I don’t recommend doing that.” And I have heard “It will only give you split ends if the razor is dull, if its sharp and new, I can use it” I’m not sure what to believe.

my x-friend did that and her hair turned out great! she used a razor that only had 2 uses and her hair looks fine… as long as your hair is washed good it shouldnt hair no split ends :) hope i helped (:

Answer #2

If you want your hair thinned, get it done professionally. Razors that you shave your legs with are not intended to be used on the hair on your head. It will damage your hair, and give you a lot of fly aways. You need to use the specific razor that hair stylists use to thin out your hair.

Your hair is most likely damaged now, but congratulations! ¬_¬

Answer #6

My hair dresser thins out my hair. The lady I go to who colors my hair says if you do it too much it causes split ends. I mean, so far so good. Also I dont understand how doing it too much could cause split ends (it’s all new hair).

Answer #7

yeah, I haven’t done it toooo much so I hope its fine :)

Answer #8

feels smooth to meeeee xD

Answer #9

It will work great when using a sharp razor. Hairdressers should sharpen all of their tools every 3 months or even less. I know I do.
