Rascist Barack Obama

I’m a 17 year old black female. My mom was probably middle class. Am I wrong for being a McCain supporter. I mean Barack is half black half white is it because I’m a rascist. I liked McCain even before I heard their stance on anything. Another thing. Why is Barack called the first black president? Since he was raised in the household of his white half and his mom is white isn’t he just as much white as he is black?

Answer #1

well I’m sure the same quotes are used because they fit into the context and are useful. I prefer no change when it is still effective.

Answer #2

Oh wow, I didn’t see that scentence.

How could you like someone before you even heard anything they have said. Sounds racist to me now.

Answer #3

Just because you supported McCain is doesn’t make you wrong…as mandyloo said, it doesn’t make you a racist it just means that you liked the other candidate better.

Answer #4

Only you know if your intentions for supporting one president over another - was racist. We can’t tell you that. Not everyone looks at race when they see the candidates, but some do. Just because you support one or the other, does not make you racist, unless you only supported them because of their skin color.

Also, yes he is the first black president. He may be half white, but it’s still a HUGE leap that we even have a half black president. Look at the past - it’s all white men.

Answer #5

Like others have said, you are only racist if your preference for McCain was due to race. You will have to reflect on your own attitudes to answer this question.

Answering the question about Obama’s background. In the US many laws stated that if someone has “a single drop” of Negro blood they are considered Negro. Of course there was mixing of the races all along so some slaves in the US appeared white but since they had a negro ancestor they were considered slaves even if they were 7/8s Caucasian.

The “one drop” rule is no longer in effect but common views are that anyone who has the appearance of having African heritage is considered black.

The term “a person of color” has been coined to be a non-derogatory way of refering to anyone who isn’t entirely caucasion.

Answer #6

no. it’s not racist, ALSO, just because you like them before hearing what they stand for doesn’t make you RACIST either, that’s ridiculous. It just meant you had a preference for whatever reason. Whether it was because you liked seeing him more than Obama, or because you preferred the skin color. only you know.

Answer #7

If your choice of candidate is based on credentials and not the color of their skin, then you are not a racist.

Althought he is inter-racial, Barrack Obama is quite often referred to as the “first black president” because his is “of” black decent and his physical appearance overall is more black than white.

Even though he has not been sworn into office yet, it is really nice to see a president elect with the convictions and the attitude to make his election promises good to the best of his ability. I believe that he will make a fine president that “all” races can be proud of.

:-)

Answer #8

Well, you shouldnt care what their race is to begin with, so the face that you are fretting about it is slightly racist in my eyes. But no, being a MCain supporter isnt bad. I’m a white citizen and I voted for Obama.

Answer #9

Dang, Amblessed. I’ve been gone for almost a month and you still use the same quotes. Can’t you change it up a bit?

Answer #10

Answer #11
