What race do you identify as (for mixed race people)?

Spanish-English (as in England not America) but I was raised in mississippi.

African-American. <_< Sometimes im not proud of the American part :P I think it’s kinda funny becuase my mom is dark,then when people see a my dad they think im mixed( Black & White) But my dad is just really light. O_o He cussed out two of my friends because they thought he was white…

Apparently no one knows what mixed race means.

Anglos - and Saxons - are both unique cultural groups in the UK….after the melding of the two…, well, you have anglo-saxons.

Just like, at the same time, “Normans” were considered a foreign people…same with Scotts, or Irish, etc during the period about a thousand years ago.

How do you define ‘mixed race’ really? Eg, if somebody with a father from the UK, and a mother from Italy - is that mixed race, or no? Is it just an issue of skin color, OR is it simply somebody from a mixed cultural heritage?

My kids (having one very light skinned father and dark skinned mother) who are from different countries….typically identify themselves as ‘american’ only because they have lived in this country longer than they lived in the country my wife is from.

Race in itself is a made up term, as we all know, biologically there is no such thing. However, since the user is in America, and they do refer to race there… You’re looking at a set of characteristics ascribed to people who originate from a certain place, e.g. black, white, etc. African is not a race, neither is American. Spanish is not a race, neither is English.

To me, mixed race is a term which refers to people who are the descendants of a mixing of people from two different groups who have identifiably different physical characteristics - which may include skin colour, and / or hair colour and / or build etc.. If a “black” pigmy has a child with a “black” Zulu the child clearly has a mixed race. Likewise if a blond haired Nordic “Viking” has a child with a red headed “Celt” it is also an interracial offspring. “English” may not be a race but almost all English people are inter-racial mixes - the majority of which happen to be white Anglo-Saxons, and they are just as much mixed race as the children of an indigenous American Indian Father and an African Negro woman.

AF, Creek indian, Cherokee indian, chickasaw indian, and white:) I have alot of full blooded indians in my family haha. I just say im mixed:)

Italian and Greek and Canadian but i dont call myself canadian :P
