I’ve read this for years now that it is classed as a sin , reasons given is that the body was designed and functions for the specific purposes of eating /sleeping/ labouring drinking & procreation, and masturbation is an abuse of the bodily function, throwing away sperm cells that could have become life forms, its in the same catagory as self harm, even if todays health gurus say its okay, the church still says its morally wrong, its been the same rule for two thousand years, I dont think anyone is going to visit the Pope and ask for a change, and go down in history as the man /woman who stopped masturbation being a sin, some brave soul may get a statue or something erected in the vatican square…

I’m not sure if the Roman Catholic Bible has anything to say about it, but my mother (who was raised Catholic) was told to sleep with her arms crossed on her chest, so as “not to tempt the devil’s touch” or something along those lines- roughly, it was meant to stop the girls from touching and playing with their genitals.

However, as an atheist, I say there’s no real danger in it.

I’m christian but I’ve never heard anything about masturbating being a sin, I’ve never asked a pastor or in your case priest about it though

As a Christian and someone who’s dedicated my life to following Christ, I do not agree with their reasons. I do not believe God looks down on masturbation or any other bodily function.
